The camping site Winkl-Landthal lies at the foot of the “Sleeping Witch“, an arm of the Lattengebirge.
North of the camping site Winkl-Landthal lies the Lattengebirge with the Sleeping Witch, the bizarre looking rock shape Steinerne Agnes (1253m) and the Karkopf (highest peak with 1738m).
To the east lies the Untersberg (1972m) and in the south/west the panorama of the Berchtesgaden Alps with the Watzmann (2713m).
The name of the so called Sleeping Witch (or Montgelas-Nose) is caused by the eye-catching shape of a sleeping witch.
The lovely Steinerne Agnes is an exceptional and unique géotope of Ramsau-Dolomite, washed in millions of years by the ice ages into the stone. The 16m high stone resembles a milkmaid with a hat.
Less well known is the Devil’s Hole (1585m) – a stone bridge with about 5m length and 2m in diameter.
